Electrospark Deposition Device

T-SPARK TS-250 / 500 / 1000 / HB-3300

ABOUT

History

T-SPARK uses the principle of Electrodischarge Machining (EDM) representitive of die-sinking electric discharge machines with the internationally recognized method of Electrospark Deposition (ESD). This technology was developed in the former Soviet Union during World War II, and T-SPARK is a device optimized for forming high-performance coatings on molds and other metal workpieces.

T-SPARK

型彫り放電加工機(EDM)

Principle

T-SPARK discharges direct current charged in the capacitors of the main body at regular intervals for an extremely short time. By reversing the polarity of the EDM, the electrode material itself becomes a welding material, which is discharged and heated at the contact point with the workpiece (inter-pole generation part = 2 μm), alloyed and deposited while forming a strong diffusion layer on the workpiece surface.

T-SPARK

T-SPARK(ESD)

Telus has developed this advanced technology into a hybrid type laser system that is not limited to electrodischarging. By irradiating the coating layer formed by the discharge process with an optimized laser, stronger bonds and ideal surface roughness can be obtained.

Features of T-SPARK

T-SPARK
Low Heat Input

This prevents defects caused by heat such as distortion, under-cuts, changes in hardness, etc. on the workpiece.

High Adhesion

Achieves a very strong bond because the electrode material and base material alloy together (forming a diffusion layer).

High Performance Surface Treatment

The desired property of the coating layer is dramatically improved because a large amount of electrode components are retained in the coating layer.

Portability

The device is portable and easy to carry both indoors and outdoors, making it ideal for field work.

Better Surface Roughness

The hybrid of ESD and Laser application improves surface roughness and expands the range of use.

Low Heat Input Prevents Defects

Since the ESD sparks in a very short burst with a relatively long interval, sufficient heat diffusion is achieved and heat does not build up in the workpiece.

T-SPARK

Contains many high-performance components in the coating layer

Using ESD equipment made by other companies, the tungsten component in the coating layer is only about 10 to 20%, while using T-SPARK creates up to 47% tungsten, improving the functionality.
